ABOUT THE OWNER

Hello, I'm Conni and I LOVE DOGS. Friends call me the Piped Piper of dogs. Everywhere I go I must meet, greet and pet the pups. I am a human identifying as a dog. Politically, there is no box to check for that (yet). I want to take you into my heart and soul a moment. I've always loved animals but the dog who started the venture for enriching dogs’ lives was Snickers (2000-2009). She has long past and I've had countless dogs since her, all rescues. In 2016 I adopted Gunner (2008-2020), my golden who likes to wear snorkel gear. I adopted him after he was retired as a fowl hunting dog.

In his early retirement he was tireless and started to stalk/hunt the low hanging fowl (the chicken). His previous owner could not accept his love/hate for the family chickens, so he called me and gave me a chance of a lifetime, adopting the only man I'll ever love. These two dogs were my soul mates and made the me I am today. Don't get me wrong, I adore all the pups in between, but there will always be that "one", in my case two dogs who just are in sync with my spirit. A dog/human bond is eternal and it's difficult to compare such a relationship elsewhere.

I want to enrich as many dogs’ lives as I can. That starts with the other end of the leash with education and compassion. Learning is a lifelong adventure. How can I help you and your pups bond better?

Taking you into my professional life; I was a Registered Veterinary Nurse/ Technician for 15 years. I specialized in Soft Tissue Surgery. I worked at the University of California Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. I worked with the greatest surgeons, residents, staff and students in the nation. Clients and their pets would travel over oceans and continents to see us. That describes the human/animal bond to its truest respect. Guinea pigs would take their own chartered plane to see our exotic Pet Vets. Of course, they had humans drive the plane and shuttle them to the hospital.

I am a transplant from California. After starting a job in Austin in Vet Med, I soon realized my heart was elsewhere. I yearned to play with dogs all day, a place I could call my own. I purchased 5 acres with the love and support of my father in rural Luling. We fenced in play yards, made it dog safe and I've opened my home to as many pups as possible. All the love, vet experience/knowledge and energy I have for the doggos was put forth into making BarnDog. We have beautiful sunsets, an array of wildlife to safely view, a choir of birds and cicadas, leaping grasshoppers, beautiful butterlfies and dragonflies, and the peacefulness of the country. God blessed Texas and I am so grateful to be a proud Texan.
